I have updated my wp version. Could this have to do with the fact I am using a mac now? I can not seem to figure it out. Did you extract the zip file you received to see if there is another .zip within? The zip within would be the .zip file to try and upload. Most of the times, the theme is broken and not compatible with your current wordpress version.
